Members shall be bona fide residents of the City for at least three (3) years immediately prior to their becoming members of the Board, and no person holding any other public office or position in the government of the City that is created by ordinance shall be eligible for membership on the Board; except that one (1) member of the Planning Commission may be appointed to serve on the Board while continuing to serve on the Planning Commission. The Board will consist of five (5) members and up to three (3) alternate members (each of whom is a “member”) who shall be appointed by the Mayor with approval of the City Council. Except as otherwise provided herein, a Board member shall serve for a term of three (3) years and there shall be no limit on the number of terms a member may serve. All membership terms shall be deemed to begin on May 1 of the year of appointment and shall expire on April 30 of the year in which the term ends; provided that a member shall continue to serve past the expiration of such term until a successor is appointed and qualified. All members shall serve without compensation. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term. [Ord. 1477, 07-10-17.]
